2.15pm Aylesford Priory (The Friars). This ancient community of Carmelte Friars was founded in 1249 and restored in 1949. Guided tour.

3.30pm St. Peter & St. Paul's Church. Organ demonstration by Mr. Michael Keays (Organist and Director of Music) followed by an opportunity for members to play.

4.15pm Tea in the church.

5.00pm Talk by Mr. John Vigar about Aylesford church and village. Mr. Vigar is one of the leading historians in Kent and lives in the village


From Maidstone the Priory is through the village, heading towards Eccles, on the left on a sharp bend. Plenty of parking. The church is in the village centre and parking is on roads nearby. There is also a car park near the river.

Mark Beech and Hever
Saturday 12th April 2003

3.00pm Holy Trinity Church, Mark Beech. Short talk, organ demonstration and time for members to play.

4.00pm St. Peter's Church, Hever. Tea followed by a talk about the church, parts of which date from 1292. It includes The Bullen Chapel (Boleyn), the tomb of Anne Boleyn's father etc. Organ demonstration and time for members to play.

Note: Hever Castle Gardens are open from 11.00am and the Castle at noon. Plenty of pubs in the area for lunch!


Leave the M25 at J5, take the A25 nearly to Westerham. Left onto B2026, through Edenbridge, after 3-5 miles, left for Mark Beech. The church is on the right, the car park is between the pub and the church.

Tour and talk about the church and Jane Austen connection. Visit to Godmersham Park Gardens

5.15pm St. Mary's Church, Chilham. Organ recital on newly rebuilt Browne organ.

Direction: Fllow the A28 at Godmersham crossroad turn into The Street, after 3/4 mile turn left. Take second left marked 'Church'. Enjoy the view!

Return to the A28 straight over junction, follow the road around left to Godmersham Church. Turn left onto the A28 and left after two miles into Chilham Village Square. Easy parking at all venues.

Directions: Both churches are near the river. The Baptish Church is on the corner of Knightrider Street (limited parking for 12 cars). All Saints Church is opposite. Parking in public car parks.
