BROWNE’S ORGAN WORK, ASH AND WINGHAM – SATURDAY 11 OCTOBER 2008

2.00 pm           2.00pm Meet at Browne’s Organ Works, The Street, Ash, Canterbury.   (May divide into two groups for tours).

                        United Reformed Church, Ash – Gray & Davidson organ.

4.30 pm          St Mary’s Church, Wingham.

                       Short choral service.   Tea.               

 

Parking at Browne’s is limited.   Public car park in Queens Road.  At Wingham there is road parking near the church and a public car park in the village.

 

SHORNE AND HIGHAM – SATURDAY 8 NOVEMBER 2008

2.30 pm          2.30pm St Peter & St Paul’s Church, Shorne.    Demonstration of organ by Mr Edmund Redfern.     Time for members to play.

3.45 pm           3.45pm St Mary’s Church, Higham.    Demonstration of organ by Mr John Etherton.    Time for members to play.

4.30 pm           4.30pm Tea.

5.15 pm           5.15pm Talk by members of Dickens Country Protection Society.

 

Shorne is off the A2 towards London (where M2 ends, keep in left-hand lane) signed for Cobham and Shorne.  Cross over A2 signed for Shorne.  At end of Brewers Road, fork left into Woodlands Lane, up hill.  Church is at top.   Parking difficult.   For Higham, head towards A226 (signed Rochester).    Turn left into Villa Road, Higham.   Church is in Hermitage Road.   Parking on road.

 

BEARSTED, HOLY CROSS – SATURDAY 10 JANUARY 2009

2.00pm Demonstration of organ (Mander rebuilt by Brownes) by Mr Peter Hart

Demonstratio 2.30pm Members to play.

3.00 pm         3.00pm Talk by Angela Legood on “Robert Fludd of Milgate, Bearsted (Rosecrucian Apologist).

4.00 pm         4.00pm Tea.

5.00 pm         5.00pm Choral Evensong.

 

Leave M20 at J7, follow signs to Maidstone, then to Bearsted.  Village green on right, and at far end turn right just before “Oak on the Green” pub.    Into Church Lane.  Car park just beyond church.

 

HYTHE, ST LEONARD – SATURDAY 14 FEBRUARY 2009

2.30pm Hythe Catholic Church. Organ demonstration.

3.30pm St. Leonard's Parish Church. Organ demonstration and talk on the Harrison organ.

4.30pm Tea

5.15pm Short recital by The Shepway Singers

 

On entering Hythe (A261) follow the main road and turn left for Church Road. There is parking at St. Leonard's Church car park or nearby.
